Well unfortunately, the Texas Rangers did not land Trevor Bauer. However, they seem to still have made out pretty well this weekend with the signing of Mike Foltynewicz.
Mike Foltynewicz is coming to the Texas Rangers
Mike Foltynewicz was Atlanta’s starting pitcher for the 2018 season. He played a season with the Rays in 2020 but ended up being designated for assignment. He ended up not being picked up by another team that season and headed into the offseason with three years of club control remaining.
It’s clear the Rangers are struggling when it comes to their pitching. So they jumped at the opportunity late in the offseason and signed the former All-Star. For Foltynewicz, this allows him to join a team in the middle of a rebuild and help bounce back this season.
All-star pitcher will slide into the rotation
In Arlington, Foltynewicz wont have the same pressure he had in Atlanta. Last season, Atlanta was in the midst of a playoff hunt and wanted him to be at top shape. While he’s no Trevor Bauer, his signing makes sense. His experience will allow him to help develop the younger starters.
With a full 40-man roster, the Texas Rangers are expected to make a corresponding move to make room for him on the active roster.
